Unlike typical lectures and symposiums, the Science Café is an initiative to create a place where scientific experts and the general public can casually talk with each other over a cup of coffee. This year\'s topic was “Can Computers Catch Clouds?　-A Story of Weather Forecasting for Disaster Prediction,” Associate Professor Taniguchi presented the topic. A lively discussion and Q&A session ensued with participants on the reality of climate change, the scientific basis for the accuracy and inaccuracies of weather forecasts, and their application in disaster prevention and disaster mitigation.
