On August 19th (Fri.) and 20th (Sat.), the University\'s Organization for Academic-Industrial Collaboration and Research Promotion participated in the “Himeji SDGs EXPO 2022,” an event celebrating the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Himeji Chamber of Commerce and Industry, held at Arcrea Himeji as an organization working on the SDGs. Vice President Sakashita gave a keynote speech on the 19th, followed by a panel discussion with Ms. Minori Nagayama, a fourth-year student at the School of Human Science and Environment, which greatly enlivened the two-day event.
The event was organized by the Himeji Chamber of Commerce and Industry as an opportunity to think about the next 100 years of city planning in Himeji, which was selected as an SDG Future City on the occasion of its 100th anniversary this year, and The University participated in the symposium and the exhibition booth.
The theme of the booth was “Education, Research, and Social Contribution based on the University of Hyogo SDGs Declaration,” and the following six points were introduced to many local visitors over the two days.
– Overview of the University of Hyogo SDGs Declaration
– Efforts for the conservation of the global environment and biodiversity
– Proposals for building a carbon-neutral economic and social system leveraging Green Transformation (GX)
– Research on the production, storage, and use of clean energy hydrogen
– \”Food × SDGs\” initiatives for food education and food loss reduction
– Activities under the UN Academic Impact, etc.
