Graduate School of Engineering
The graduate school continues to provide training in world-class research and development especially in innovative manufacturing. The students can learn the basic knowledge and essences in applied chemistry, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, electronic engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering, and material engineering. The graduates themselves and their research results have made significant contributions to society in various fields of engineering and manufacturing.
Department
Department of Electrical Materials and Engineering
The department trains students to be engineers and researchers with a high sense of ethics and a deep sense of humanity, who possess the knowledge and research skills in electrical power systems necessary to build the social infrastructure for next-generation power generation, transport, and application, and the broad knowledge and research skills in research, evaluation, and application of advanced functional materials such as semiconductors, dielectrics, magnetic materials, and nano-carbon.
Department of Electronics and Computer Science
The students will gain the ability to research and develop electronic materials, mainly ferroelectrics; develop next-generation, high-performance, ultra-high-density electronic circuits and devices utilizing new electronic materials and processes; research and develop information materials such as electromagnetic wave absorption shielding materials; and have broad knowledge and research and development capabilities in hardware and software, including information communication and image processing. We nurture engineers and researchers with high ethical standards and a deep sense of humanity.
Department of Mechanical Engineering
Based on a fundamental knowledge of various mechanics of materials, fluid, and heat, and logical analytical ability, the department continues to develop by integrating different fields such as electrical and electronic engineering, measurement and control engineering, and medical engineering, and focuses on basic research to further advance mechanical engineering, while providing education and research guidance to realize cutting-edge technology and a renewable society.
Department of Materials and Synchrotron Radiation Engineering
The development of functional materials and their applications are the basis for important innovations in all manufacturing, from advanced research to industrial equipment, including information and communications, sensors, environmental energy, automobiles, and medicine. Using the University's synchrotron radiation facility "NewSUBARU" as well as the large synchrotron radiation facility "SPring-8" and the free electron laser facility "SACLA," education and research will be conducted to foster human resources with creative development and research capabilities based on advanced synchrotron radiation technology.
Department of Applied Chemistry
Education and research will be conducted into high-performance, highly functional materials that will form the basis of next-generation energy and information sciences and biomedicine, based on organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, biochemistry, and polymer chemistry. Through these studies, we aim to nurture engineers and researchers with a broad perspective whose vision extends from the fundamentals to applications based on chemistry.
Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science
Through the synergy of chemical engineering based on the study of plant design and the materials science exploring the new materials, we conduct the education and research with the aim of cultivating top engineers acquired a wide range of knowledge and experience. Our goal is the environmental energy innovation, that is the generation and saving energy in production technology while achieving the environmental conservation.
